All around,
pink granite

In Gallura the bedrock is granite, and it has a precise colour: pink, with grey veins and black specks. It is called Rosa Beta, and in 2019 it joined the stones recognised as world geological heritage, like Carrara marble.

It is the stone of the dry-stone walls, of the oven in the garden, of the wind-carved boulders around the pool. And of the rocks at Mare e Rocce, the nearest beach. You will find it at the entrance too, in the boulder carved with the words Villa Rosa.
